Restoring A 1976 Ford F-250 - Weekend Restoration

This is where detailing becomes... This is where detailing becomes restoration work. Mothers Wheel & Tire Cleaner cuts through the heaviest of dirt, grease, and built-up brake dust. I soaked everything from the tire down to the 3/4-ton hub. Hose it off with water well before it dries. I like using Summit Racing’s... I like using Summit Racing’s General Chassis Enamel on anything where a good high-build semi-gloss black is desired. Soaking the wheel and tire... Soaking the wheel and tire down with Mothers Reflections Advanced Tire Care restored the tire to a natural brand-new rubber appearance. There’s Argent Silver on the... There’s Argent Silver on the lug nuts and Summit Racing’s general chassis enamel on the hub. Notice the hub looks like it’s buried in powdercoat and the tire isn’t a sticky, shiny mess. One of the best detailing... One of the best detailing tips I know for chrome is to use Mothers Chrome Polish with 0000 steel wool. Allow the chrome polish to dry into a white haze then buff (wipe) off. Always think about eye safety.... Always think about eye safety. It’s a little trickier to drill from the front, but a whole lot safer to look down rather than lay behind and look up. I just got this new Makita drill and it’s unbelievable how much faster the job went with its tremendous amount of power. I like the quality of Summit Racing’s economy lacquer thinner. I used it along with a Mothers microfiber towel to wipe the face of the lettering off on the license plate frame as well as to clean the brush. Mothers Brazilian Carnauba Cleaner Wax restored the license plate’s blue finish. Outside of rust, the genuine... Outside of rust, the genuine Ford rear bumper was in perfect shape. All it took to prep was 80-grit sandpaper and a bastard file. Next I used compressed-air to blow off the dirt, and it was ready to paint. Because it’s a tough wheel... Because it’s a tough wheel finish, I believe Argent Silver works the best for silver bumper paint. It comes with a choice of two nozzles. I used the nozzle with the... I used the nozzle with the biggest hole to hose on the paint in long, fast-moving passes. Start with a light tack coat, and then pour it on. Spotless glass goes a long... Spotless glass goes a long way toward improving an old truck’s looks, not to mention you can see better. Mothers Glass Cleaner works great and tastes awful. For that nasty opaque crystalline... For that nasty opaque crystalline film that builds up on windshields and makes them real hard to see out of, I highly recommend Mothers new Water Spot Remover. A Makita drill with a Power Ball works great on the heavy stuff, but wiping it on with a towel will handle routine cleaning. Notice Mothers Paint Ball... Notice Mothers Paint Ball on the Makita drill is continuing to remove oxidized pigment from the paint’s surface. Applying the Mothers polishes produces even results. It’s hard to believe this is the same truck. The finishing touch was applying two coats of Mothers FX Syn Wax to the camper shell and the truck.
