Use the cable housing adjuster... Use the cable housing adjuster to remove the slack from the throttle cable by turning it in a counter-clockwise motion. Once the proper tension is set, secure the adjuster by tightening the jam nuts. Next up, I began installing... Next up, I began installing the Hi-Tech kickdown cable by mounting the kickdown adjuster bracket to the throttle cable bracket and throttle cable adjuster. Once the bracket was mounted I installed the kickdown cable adjuster. The Lokar kickdown utilizes... The Lokar kickdown utilizes this cable-slide fitting, just like the throttle kit, uses the carb end fitting to secure the cable in place. The cable slide mounts just below the carb end fitting on the carburetor throttle arm. The Lokar trans tube mounts... The Lokar trans tube mounts in the transmission and hooks up to the kickdown arm in the Gearstar 4L60. However, the first step is to install only the Lokar trans tube into the tranny and route the stainless braided kickdown housing to the kickdown adjuster. From there, mark where the housing meets the adjuster and add an inch. Cut the housing at the second mark. Install the Lokar kickdown... Install the Lokar kickdown cable into the housing. This time slide the provided O-rings into the grooves on the trans tube and re-install the tube, but this time be sure to install the cable to the tranny kickdown arm. Route the kickdown housing... Route the kickdown housing and cable up to the adjuster. Next, slide the cable through the cable slide fitting and install the cable stop by sliding it over the cable and up to the slide fitting. (Arrow indicates cable stop.) From there, install the throttle return springs to the carburetor mounting bracket and throttle arm. To adjust the kickdown cable, hold the throttle wide open and slide the cable stop up to the cable slide and tighten the set screw. When things are properly adjusted the throttle should be held at wide open with no slack in the kickdown cable. When installing the Lokar... When installing the Lokar column shift, start by sliding the splined Lokar bushing over the gear selector on the 4L60. Be sure the selector is in the Park position. Then slide the Lokar aluminum trans arm over the splined bushing in the 8 o'clock position. The linkage rod utilizes two... The linkage rod utilizes two swivel-head rod ends. One rod end screws onto the linkage rod, while the other slides onto the linkage rod and secures with set screws. The last item on the agenda... The last item on the agenda is to install the Lokar braided stainless flexible dipsticks. Both dipsticks push into place and seal themselves with O-rings-although a bit of automotive-grade silicone on the O-rings is recommended. Once in place, the engine dipstick is designed to mount to a header bolt, and the tranny dipstick is designed to mount to the firewall. And that is what we call gettin'... And that is what we call gettin' hooked up!
