16-Inch Disc Brake Kit Install for 1963-1987 Chevy C10's - Disc Proportioned

 We set the hat onto the brake...  We set the hat onto the brake rotor ready to accept the 12 5/16-18x11/4-inch 12-point coarse thread bolts...  ...then placed the aircraft...  ...then placed the aircraft SAE washer on the 12-point bolt and inserted it through the rotor securing it with the flanged steel locknut on the backside of the rotor.  Anywhere two surfaces are...  Anywhere two surfaces are bolted together a star (cross) pattern must be used to mate the surfaces evenly. After the 12 bolts were snug against the rotor the last step was to torque them to 25 ft-lb.  The Alston's Chassisworks...  The Alston's Chassisworks billet aluminum hubs come pre-drilled for 43/4- and 5-inch bolt circles. We selected the 5x5-inch pattern and chased the threads with a 1/2-inch-20 tap. Compressed air was used to blow any remaining aluminum debris from the threads.  To mount the brake rotor and...  To mount the brake rotor and hat with the billet aluminum hub we set it over the backside identified with the larger bearing race snout and lined up the boltholes.  A drop of red, high-strength...  A drop of red, high-strength Loctite 277 was added 1/2-inch from the shoulder of the wheel studs to lock them in place. Always check to verify the wheel studs are long enough to be used with thick-based wheels.  Once again, using a star pattern...  Once again, using a star pattern the wheel studs were torqued to 40 ft-lb.  The billet aluminum hubs come...  The billet aluminum hubs come with the outer bearing races installed. High-temp disc brake grease was used to pack the Timken-style tapered wheel bearings. Wheel bearings can be packed by hand working the grease in with your fingers, or using a tool specially designed to pack wheel bearings.  After the wheel bearings were...  After the wheel bearings were installed it was time to install the hub grease seal. Special attention should be paid to not touch the lip of the seal with one's fingers or anything that might damage the seal.  To protect the face of the...  To protect the face of the hub we placed it face down on wood and then carefully tapped the seal in with a seal driver. A large socket matching or slightly greater than the outer diameter of the seal can be used in place of the correct tool.  The hub and rotor assembly...  The hub and rotor assembly is now ready to install on the spindle. A slight trace of high-temp wheel bearing grease was rubbed on the spindle prior to installing it.  This is the aluminum mounting...  This is the aluminum mounting plate used to attach the Wilwood six-piston caliper to the spindle. These mounts are side specific and should be installed with the milled pocket face towards the center (middle) of the truck.
