1956 Ford F-100 Volare IFS Drop Spindle Rebuild - Volare IFS Drop

We knew the hole was properly aligned when the cotter key easily pushed in and appeared like this.

The last step was to stake the cotter key so that it appeared like this.

There are two slight modifications that need to be done. In order to utilize the stock Volare disc brake caliper mount with the Fatman Volare spindles, the raised circular bump on the casting has to be ground down to appear flat like this.

Then there are two flat SAE washers Fatman includes with the Volare drop-spindles that need to be placed (shimmed) between the Fatman spindle and the stock Volare caliper mount.

This is a before view of the stock Volare spindle. Notice the gap between the upper control-arm and the brake rotor.

Now look at the gap on this after shot with Fatman Fabrications Volare 2-inch drop-spindle in place. It's a big difference, and it means all the difference in the world when it comes to making a Volare frontend have good ride quality on a classic truck.
