The assembly is held together with rivets. Using a grinding wheel, I made quick work of the rivets and was able to separate the bar from the wing window. | At the top end of th bar is this small 1/8-inch hole. this end will become the bottom end of the glass channel, but first the bar needs to be cut... | ...by measuring 27 1/2-inches from this end of hte bar, I got my cut mark. |
Using a cut-off wheel, I removed the excess material from the channel. | This stock rear glass channel is used as well, but it, too, gets modified. For starters, this mounting tab at the top of the channel needs to be removed. | Then, by measuring 19 inches from the bottom, another cut mark is made. Once again, I used a cut-off wheel to hack the channel. The top piece is tossed away. |
Next, this relocating bracket is secured to the rear channel. | The rear guide mounts in the same vicinity it used to, only now it's pushed back toward the rear of the door more. In order to secure the channel to the door, locate the OEM forward-mounting hole--the same hole used previously. Then, using the bolt provided, secure the relocating bracket to the hole in the door. The top of the channel just rests in place. | The next thing to get modified is the window sash, which, once again, Early Classic hooked me up with after I made a bonehead move and tossed mine. First, the triangular portionis cut down the middle. |
The Brothers sash bracket is then lined up with the cut pieces and the holes are punched. | The proper holes were then drilled and the bracket was bolted to the sash. | Until now, things have gone step-by-step, with the Brothers instructions. However, that's all about to change due to the fact my lowered lid isn't the stock shape anymore. Originally this kit comes with this corner wedge, but, as you can see, the shape of the wedge no longer follows the contour of the doorframe. |
