Once the holes are drilled, the material between the holes is removed. This area is where the pin will slide to release the gate.

Next, Keith drilled another 5/8-inch hole in the specified location on the side of the gate.

The latch knob is then removed from the latch assembly, and the latch housing is slid into place.

In order to secure the latch, first the rear mounting screw is inserted through the gate and into the latch housing.

Next, the latch knob is screwed into place, and that's it. the cool thing about these latches is the fact they are spring loaded. By simply pulling back on the latches they release, and then by letting go of the knob they slide back into place. Also, once opened, the latches twist to the side to lock the latch pin into the housing, which makes shutting the gate a breeze.

To keep the rattles down, this foam strip is laid down.

In order to locate the latch pin holes on the bedside, this kit once again makes things way easy. The ends of the latch have been machined to act like a punch. By simply closing the gate and snapping the spring-loaded latch, it locates its mounting holes on the bedside by itself.

Edgar then drilled the appropriate-sized hole and inserted the provided rubber grommet. There you have it, the installation is done like dinner!
