Ford F-100 Wiring - Bulletside Build-off

Plug & Play F-100 Wiring
Ford F 100 Wiring
Ford F 100 Wiring
The stock Ford starter motor is twice as big, yet it delivers half the torque of the Powermaster starter. The Powermaster's slim profile allows better clearance for the Hooker headers we are installing.
Ford F 100 Wiring
These are the solenoid wires on the F-100's inner fenderwell that were eliminated by installing the Powermaster starter. Only a battery cable and one wire run to the Powermaster starter.
Ford F 100 Wiring
To insure a high-quality installation, we thoroughly cleaned all the mounting hardware and mating surfaces.
Ford F 100 Wiring
It was necessary to undo three Allen bolts on the Powermaster starter to gain clearance for the top mounting bolt.
Ford F 100 Wiring
Here's how the bolt looked when the operation was completed.
Ford F 100 Wiring
Notice how nicely the Powermaster starter hugs the 302's block.
Ford F 100 Wiring
The stock Ford alternator was rated at 38 amps and required a handful of wires to reach its externally mounted voltage regulator on the radiator core support.
Ford F 100 Wiring
Here's the new 140-amp Powermaster "one-wire" alternator mounted in place. The red charging lead (Included) runs to the battery's positive post.

The 14-circuit Painless chassis harness wiring assembly for '67-77 F-series Fords includes everything necessary to rewire the '72 F-100, and then some.
Ford F 100 Wiring
The first step was to lay out the complete wiring harness and familiarize ourselves with its six major sections and which wires they held.
Ford F 100 Wiring
We reduced the intimidation factor by identifying all the subharnesses inessential to the '72 and placing them in a bag.
Ford F 100 Wiring
To simplify matters further, we identified the subharnesses we'd need later and placed them in a bag.
Ford F 100 Wiring
Eight Phillips screws were undone to remove the '72's gauge cluster. Before proceeding any further, compressed air with a damp rag was used to clean thoroughly inside the dashboard.
Ford F 100 Wiring
Beyond here lie dragons! A warning to the wise: Special attention should be paid not to drag one's bare skin across the dashboard's razor-sharp sheetmetal edges.
Ford F 100 Wiring
Silicone spray was used to ease the disassembly of components and separate plugs as well as aid in the cleanup.
Ford F 100 Wiring
Anything that obstructed access to the wiring harness within the dashboard was removed. The glovebox retaining strap was disconnected to allow the box to be extracted.
Ford F 100 Wiring
Not all the original wiring was removed. As the new Painless wiring harness is installed, the remaining original wires will help guide routing the new harness.
Ford F 100 Wiring
The starting point for installing the Painless wiring harness will be to remove the original Ford five-circuit fuse box and install the 14-circuit Painless fuse box in its place.
