1955 Chevy Series 2 Truck - Independence Day

The Flat-Out Engineering kit does not make provision for mounting the front sway bar in this application. An improvement (made by Don at Altered Engineering) was a mount he designed in his shop. These billet aluminum blocks support the stock Corvette bracket and bushings and mount where Don drilled holes in the bottom of the framerail.

To facilitate the mounting, Don actually slipped the sway bar through the stock truck crossmember. This slick trick not only made for a cleaner installation, but also kept the bar high enough to where it won't interfere with a minimum of ground clearance.

To attach the antisway bar to the lower control arms, Don made these brackets and adjust-able end links. These not only firm up the action of the antisway bar, but also make sure that both the left and right sides of the bar are pre-loaded equally.

With everything assembled this installation makes for one good-looking frontend. Combined with the independent rear suspension and large-diameter brake disks, this will be one great-handling, hard-stopping custom classic truck. Continuing the Corvette theme this Chevy truck will soon receive a tuned port injected '86 Corvette engine and trans. We can hardy wait to go for a ride!
