With the construction of the roadster pickup cab complete, SAR put together the custom-length Pro's Pick bed and installed the bed on the '34 frame. Pro's Pick beds can be ordered with custom-length bedsides. SAR determined that the roadster pickup bedsides should be 54 inches.  When SAR installed the pickup...  When SAR installed the pickup bed, they discovered that the look of the curvaceous cab and the boxy bed presented an unfortunate visual mismatch or fitment dilemma.  To blend the two forms together,...  To blend the two forms together, SAR clamped a rear fender in place and began forming cardboard templates.  SAR trimmed the cardboard...  SAR trimmed the cardboard template until the filler piece flowed nicely with the curvature of the cab.  To achieve the proper look,...  To achieve the proper look, they also decided to graft extensions to the bedrails.  Before making the filler pieces,...  Before making the filler pieces, SAR mocked up the running boards and rear fenders.  The temporarily Cleco-clipped...  The temporarily Cleco-clipped filler piece creates a pleasant transition between the cab and the bed.  Before welding the piece fully...  Before welding the piece fully into place, SAR tack-welded the bedrail filler panel to check its shape and fitment.  To efficiently graft the filler...  To efficiently graft the filler pieces, SAR removed the bed from the rear of the frame.  After the addition of the...  After the addition of the filler piece on each side, the contrasting shapes of the cab and bed melded together beautifully.  The bedrail now hugs the curvaceous...  The bedrail now hugs the curvaceous cab and provides a custom fit. We also procured the bedrail extension stock from Pro's Pick.  To finish off the appearance...  To finish off the appearance of the rear of the roadster pickup, SAR modified a '33/34 coupe/roadster fuel-tank cover to fill the vacant space between the two rear fenders.  SAR shortened the fuel-tank...  SAR shortened the fuel-tank cover and refinished it to fit under the narrow bed. Some much-needed curves from the flowing fuel-tank cover help to diminish the transition of the boxy bed to the flowing cab, fenders, and rear valance/fuel-tank cover.  Although this '33/34 Ford...  Although this '33/34 Ford roadster pickup is the first of its kind and finally seeing the light of day, hopefully it won't be the last one built.
