While having a nice weekend ride is good, it’s always nice to wake up in the morning and have your good ol’ reliable daily driver at your side to get you from point A to B. Folks who have newer cars would have been able to appreciate Colorado’s new legislation that was approved by the appropriations committee and moved to the senate floor, however, bill S.B. 257 in Colorado failed in the House after the legislature adjourned for the year.

Bill S.B. 257 that was approved to extend emissions inspection from 4 to 7 years and a separate bill that would have allowed for cars 10 years or newer to be smogged after 7 years was also denied. This was important because it was showing some promise in acknowledging the minimal impact that targeted vehicles had on the environment. It’s not newer cars that are causing the problem, therefore it doesn’t make sense to have people smog them after only 4 years.

The SEMA Action Network thanks all of you out there who supported this bill and who continue to support this hobby.
