It’s really been that long? Save the dates of January 24-26, 2014. The Grand National Roadster Show at the Fairplex in Pomona, California is celebrating 100 years of Bonneville speed. This is an event that will go down in the history books and you’re not going to want to miss it. The event is going to showcase some of the coolest hot rods on the planet, including 100 of the greatest land speed record cars and motorcycles of the past 100 years. Owners of the vehicles will get to enjoy a special gathering on Thursday, to view the exhibition before it’s opened up to the public.
The show’s theme, “The Quest for Speed”, will feature over 700 show rods that will be competing and then if you thought it couldn’t get any crazier, there will be another 600 street rods showing up. Not only is this the oldest hot rod show but features the Street Rodder and Rod & Custom Grand Daddy Drive-In outdoor car show on Saturday and Sunday.
If you’re a reader looking for a piece of Bonneville History, “Bonneville a Century Speed”, will be making its debut. Not only does this book feature some of the fastest vehicles of our time, but it also tells the history of the salt flats themselves. This is going to be a rare piece that will be numbered 1 to 2,000. That’s right. There are only 2,000 of these books in print and it may never be printed again. The great thing about this book is the price being sold and the cause behind it. The book will be on sale for $20.00 at the Grand National Roadster Show and the proceeds will be donated to the Save the Salt Foundation cause. Save the Salt will help us preserve and protect the enthusiast motorsport we love so much and allow future generations to be able to enjoy it as much as we do. The book will be available for sale after the show ends for $24.95 online. So come on down and enjoy the fun.
