A phone tip from a friend stated: “Drive south on Pardee Road until you see an old silo. Look for a ‘hidden drive’ sign and look to your right and you’ll see the truck.”

Sure enough, there was a ’41-47 Chevy 11⁄2-ton flatbed truck half hidden by brush. It hadn’t been moved in 25-30 years, but was still sporting a red, white, and blue bicentennial (1976) license plate.

The bed had been modified in the past with a covering of smooth sheet steel. The owner keeps his winter firewood dry by storing it under the bed of the truck.
