The Long Motor Corporation was founded in 1981, and in 1993, the first Chevrolet catalog was introduced under the LMC Truck name. I met LMC Truck's founder Leo Long for the first time in early November at the 2006 SEMA show only a few month's after I took over as Custom Classic Trucks' editor. It was an interesting experience and I discovered Leo to be a warm individual and a real nice guy. What surprised me was while Leo was addressing a room packed full of magazine editors he took the time to explain that it was up to us to communicate to our readers that they really need to take care of their trucks. Not because LMC Truck wanted to sell them a lot of parts, although that would be OK, but because there are some parts the aftermarket manufacturers will never reproduce because of the tremendous investment it takes to tool up, and then ultimately hope to turn a profit. On August 19, 2008 we got the bad news that Leo Long had passed away. It was a very sad moment indeed, but true to Leo's belief that I'm only as strong as my people and as successful as my customers' continued satisfaction, the LMC Truck legacy lives on. Collectively the many people whom the Long Motor Corporation has employed for over 20 years, including his wife Janet and the president Rebecca Hanrahan, have built a strong foundation from which the company continues to grow on.

Last September while I was in town for the Mid-West All-Truck Nationals held in Riverside, Missouri, I got a chance to get a firsthand look at LMC Truck's operation in Lenexa, Kansas. I took the following photographs while I toured the facility and it was truly an experience Iíll never forget. The first thing that becomes quite apparent is the place is absolutely huge. To give you an idea just how huge, LMC Truck stocks over 30,000 truck parts and accessories in what would be an equivalent of six football fields of warehouse space. In an age where one often discovers backordered parts are becoming more and more commonplace it's interesting to note that 95 percent of all LMC Truck products offered are stocked, orders are filled promptly, and with the central U.S. location customers receive their orders quickly.

To keep the shelves full, the folks at LMC Truck explained to me that they coordinate directly with manufacturers to obtain those everyday necessities as well as the hard-to-find parts, and go to great lengths to keep them in stock, so LMC Truck customers can keep 'em on the road!
