There's no doubt when Don Schumacher of Belmont Shores, California, named his Rat Terrier Gilmore he was paying homage to the Gilmore oil company's credo, "Roar with Gilmore." Don told us "Gilmore is an energetic 6-year-old Rat Terrier that loves to show off running and jumping high to catch the Frisbee. Rat Terriers were bred for chasing down varmints on the prairies back in the '20's and '30's and are super quick and agile. They are also great loyal companions. I forgot to mention smart. Best dog I ever had."
Howard and Velvet Keith of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, have a unique hybrid hound in their truck's cab. Patience is an equal parts concoction of Jack Russell Terrier, Beagle, and Australian Shepherd. She loves to ride when the '47 M-5 1/2-ton Studebaker is running, and sit in the driver's seat when it's parked. With only 48,600 original miles on the overdrive-equipped Studebaker we think Howard, Velvet, and Patience will be cruising together for a long time to come.
