Is there anyone in the area of Galveston, Texas, missing a '48-50 Ford F-1 pickup? On September 12-13, 2008 Hurricane Ike hit Crystal Beach, Texas, and didn't let up until the Harrington family's land was inundated with salt water and had this old Ford perched near a house that also wasn't there on September, 11th. Greg Harrington sent us these photos, and said "there's no way of knowing where the Ford truck originated. The pickup is about a half mile from the nearest road and there was no structure, before the storm, within three-quarters of a mile. The truck and house both came to rest on an old levy that surrounds an abandoned oil well."
Not to mention his folk's home disintegrated without a trace, Greg went on to say his '57 Chevy shortbed stepside project was a victim of the horrific storm as well. He scrambled to get his new 350 Chevy crate motor and 700-R4 transmission he'd just bought from Summit Racing moved to higher ground but the 11 1/2 additional feet of elevation Greg secured was no match for the flood. When the storm waters had receded Greg's motor and trans were sitting in three feet of muddy salt water.
Greg told us it will be the summer of '09 before he can even think about working on his truck, "right now it's just day-to-day survival."
