Serving Rodders And Restorers Since 1969The idea behind presenting our Classic Life section to Custom Classic Trucks' valued readers was to provide a firsthand look beyond the nuts and bolts of operating an automotive business, and pictorially present the lifestyle side of things. It would be hard to find a better example than Sacramento Vintage Ford Parts to demonstrate that a 70,000 square-foot warehouse can be so much more than just an enormous cement building packed full of Ford restoration and customizing parts. Entering through Sacramento Vintage Ford Parts' front doors is more like stepping into an elaborately decorated automobile museum, than just a parts house. If one had to describe the Kohout family's business the best description would be it's like a Disneyland for Ford fanatics, without any of the Mickey Mouse stuff.

It seems like the best businesses...

It seems like the best businesses are always run by a family, and Sacramento Vintage Ford Parts is no exception. In the middle is Darold Kohout founder, flanked by son Mike Kohout, general manager, and wife Lynn who handles the accounting chores. After this photo was taken we went into where the phone sales are handled, and met Mike's wife.

One of Sacramento Vintage...

One of Sacramento Vintage Ford Parts specialties is manufacturing stock replacement wiring harnesses for 1908 through 1956 Ford vehicles. The spools seen in this photo are wrapped with thousands of feet of lacquer cloth and vinyl coated copper wire. If you need a wiring harness buy it now because future prices will be going right through the ceiling until the supply of heavy gauge copper wire dries up completely.

The Chrome Grill, no destination...

The Chrome Grill, no destination spot is complete without an authentic diner for folks to relax in ice-cold A/C and drink a Coke.

The guy working in the background...

The guy working in the background is Bud Bryan a name longtime Rod & Custom readers will recognize from the mid-'60s to early '70s. The December '08 edition of R&C has a great six-page story on Bud with a lot of good photos from back in the day.

Like we said there's no Mickey...

Like we said there's no Mickey Mouse stuff, but there is a big Rat Fink.
