Chassis: Dan Coy also modified the ½-ton chassis. He clipped it just behind the cab and fabricated a Pro Street rear half from 2x4 steel tubing. A four-link suspended by coilovers locates the 12-bolt rear. Up front, the factory control arms are sprung with a pair of Belltech coils and dropped spindles. Drum brakes act to slow Steve’s hauler whenever he’s a-haulin’. Dan also added power steering for easier aiming.

Wheels & Tires: Fats and skinnies are M/T 29.0x15.5 and BFG 205/60-15 respectively. The tires are mounted on polished five-spoke American Racing wheels with 15x16s in the rear and 15x7s up front. Notice the offset of the rear wheels; the rims were split behind the center and widened to fill the tubs. With all of that backspacing, the wheels appear to be stock width when viewed from the curb. Sleeper city.

Body: Body modifications were minimal, with Steve and Dan adding Fleet-side truck inner fenders inside the bed for extra tire clearance, hidden latches inside the tailgate, and a rolled rear pan. A pair of ’40 Ford truck taillights keep the rear of the Chevy looking clean. Check this out—when it came time for the bed wood, the boys covered the floor with a sheet of Birch plywood, then fastened the polished strips over it. It looks high-buck, but Steve says he only has $150 in it.

Paint: Body Palace in Huntington Beach, California, applied the School Bus Yellow.

Interior: The interior was stitched by L.A.M. Upholstery in Huntington Beach, California, with black velour covering the factory bench seat. A late-model factory wheel tops a GM tilt column.
