Chip Foose is now designing...        read full caption Chip Foose is now designing and manufacturing a limited line of custom wheels. These polished 10x17-inch 5-spoke wheels are called Thrusts. The rear BFGoodrich tire is a 305/45R17 while the front is a 235/45R17.

The Reister family members of Highland, Colorado, are decidedly not newcomers to the hobby of cool custom cars and trucks. Their high-quality toys have graced the pages of many popular magazines—they’re usually low and lusciously crafted. Ken’s lucky son Chris is a young man also bitten by the slammed truck bug.

This truck is Chris’ dream come true. It’s a ’48 Chevy with a few modern touches by Dennis Sexson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Masterpiece Rodding and Restorations in Denver, Colorado. Chip Foose also had input on the project and designed the unique flames running down the hoodsides, doors, and bed side panels. Mike Lavallee gets credit for the smooth black PPG paint with clearcoat—a good idea for a truck that expects to see some time cruizin’ the Colorado highways.

The front bumper brackets were shortened 5 inches to tuck the bumper up to the front sheetmetal. The front bumper itself sits super low thanks to beefed-up Mustang II IFS. Custom leaf springs and shackles get the back end down. When it comes time to hit the road, airbags raise the body to a safe driving height.

Look for Chris at Rocky Mountain and Denver area events this summer. He plans to put more than a few miles on the black beauty before the next winter slows his activities. He also wanted to thank his dad and all the guys who made his dream come true. Speaking of dreams, it’s quite a coincidence that Chris’ truck was selected as the Goodguy’s PPG Dream Truck 2000.
