We have a feeling we’d like Louisiana’s Phillip Jones, the owner of this emerald green F-100. Perhaps a man of few words, but if we drove a pickup as nice as this one, maybe we’d let the truck do the talking.
“My name is Phillip Jones and I am 75 years old. I have been driving Ford trucks for years now and my sons have followed suit. I found this ’57 Ford truck in a garage with no motor or transmission, and paid a thousand dollars for it. I brought it home and had the frame sandblasted and painted it Black Imron. I then found a wrecked ’76 Cobra 302 Mustang and took the motor and transmission from it and installed it into my truck. I had the guys at River City Collision finish it. The renovations took about four years to complete, but I am very happy with the results. Here are some pictures; I would love to have my truck in your magazine. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks.”
Well, we did enjoy it Phillip. We like the paint and the American Racing five-spokes. And we like the updated upgrades to the interior in the form of late-model bucket seats and center console, the tilt colmn, and—just for grins—the classic foot gas pedal. It’s obviously a truck built to drive. Bet it’s a blast.
Editor’s Note: Getting your truck into Readers’ Trucks is a snap, of the camera, that is. All it takes are a few good-quality photos of your ride that are in focus and well lit. High-resolution digital photos can be sent in via email to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Traditional prints are also acceptable and should be sent to: CCT, c/o Readers’ Trucks, 1733 Alton Parkway, Suite 100, Irvine, CA 92606. It is important that you include a detailed description of the modifications you have made to your truck, including any interesting stories behind it. Due to the volume of mail we receive, we regret that we cannot return photographs.
