Bill Bennett’s been a hot rodder ever since the early ’50s when he stuffed a punched-out 331 Chrysler Hemi into a ’53 Studebaker Starlite coupe. Since then, he’s had a number of different cars, his latest being this ’48 GMC that he found at a garage sale. Bill found out the owner’s husband had fixed up and painted the truck 17 years earlier for their daughter and, the husband having passed away, mom was looking to sell the truck.

Bill gladly paid the lady for the pickup and proceeded to go at it like any hot rodder would. A 350/TH400 Chevy combo was put to work to move the hauler while dad’s old paintjob was retained nearly 25 years after having it sprayed for his little girl. CCT
