Heading to the other side of the world now all the way to Sweden to check out Martin Gyllander’s ’70 GMC Fleetside. Martin purchased the truck stateside via eBay back in 2007 and has since rehabbed the suspension using a RideTech air setup with 2-inch dropped spindles from CPP and their cross-drilled and vented disc brake kit up front. Out back, the truck received a C-notch in the frame to give the stock rearend plenty of room to tuck those 17-inch Coys up nice and tight in the fenders. Oversized drum brakes out back take up the braking slack left by the stock units and heavy-duty sway bars, front and rear, remove any sign of body sway. Martin then swapped the drivetrain out of an LT1 Camaro and placed it in between the rails of the GMC, with the exception of the exhaust system.
The original goal being a pickup with a mostly stock exterior appearance, Martin has succeeded in this with the only give away being the ’96 Dodge Ram bench seat with shoulder harnesses he installed in the cab so his two boys, Ludvig and Viktor, could cruise safely with him. With a little help from Joakim at Vallakra och Motorsport, Martin was able to build just the truck he wanted to park next to his other pride and joy, a ’66 Nova station wagon. Now that’s a cool pair regardless what continent you’re on! CCT
