Passin' Time
When TSGT Jeffrey Yeargan and SSGT Willie Moody joined the Air Force, they knew that when duty calls, they had to report. A few years back they got the call that they have been stationed in Minot, North Dakota, and figured they would make the best of it. Being that both love classic trucks, they figured the best way to pass the time, when they're not supporting the Air Force's mission "Fly-Fight-Win," was to build a couple of '67 Chevy trucks. Although both love C10 trucks, their taste of style divides them. Jeffrey's truck is the flat black '67 with red scallops. Over the past three years Jeffrey has been building his ride, which includes a 402 Chevy motor backed by a 700-R4 transmission. He even built the killer 46-inch long side pipes. As for Willie, he has been building his yellow '67 for the past five years. Residing under the Chevy's custom hood is a 307 Chevy with an Edelbrock carb and 63cc camel hump heads. Mated to the small-block is a Muncie four-speed tranny. Giving the truck a whole new look is the late-model '88-98 style bed. Although different, both are cool in their own right.
The 200-Mph Club
Bill Haley, of Plano, Texas, set out to build a '56 Chevy truck with two stipulations; it had to be show quality and to be able to run at speeds of 200 mph. First, Bill, his son Billy, and grandson Hunter handled the chassis. The frame was fully boxed and a '73 Camaro frontend was grafted to the frame. Under the hood is a monstrous 598ci Chevy big-block. Although what lies inside the motor is mainly for Bill to know, we do know that it has a Brodix intake manifold with Brodix heads, a Demon carburetor, JE pistons, and that it cranks out 750 horsepower. Behind the motor is a stout 700-R4 trans with a CV Products overdrive unit with on-demand gear splitting, which makes the tranny an eight-speed. Lewis Paint and Body laid down the House of Kolor Candy Apple Red over PPG Silver. They also handled custom mods, such as the roll pan and rear bumper, among others. The intricate white Italian leather interior was stitched up by Dee's Trim Shop. The truck, dubbed Lady Katie, was recently finished, and it has already hit several shows. As for the other goal, Bill is taking the truck out to an airstrip at the end of October to see if he can tackle his 200-mph goal. Keep us posted, Bill!
