Smothered And Covered
When you buy a truck, oftentimes you're just not quite sure what you're getting. No one knows this better than Walt and Jacelyn Bowers. When they bought their '62 Chevy, it had seven coats of paint to hide all the surface rust.
Needless to say, the first order of business was to have the truck sandblasted. Then a '78 Chevy truck was purchased, and the brakes, front suspension, and rear axle were pirated for the '62. Next, a JEGS fuel cell replaced the stock unit, and the truck was completely rewired with a kit from American Autowire. Then the bed seams and the stake holes were filled and the truck was painted Victory Red. In terms of power, the 327 engine was worked over with a COMP Cams extreme energy cam, Edelbrock carburetor, water pump, intake manifold, and Performer RPM heads. Putting things in motion are American Racing Torq-Thrust II wheels with BFGoodrich rubber. On the inside, things were also kept fairly simple with the addition of APC bucket seats, a Sun Super Tach in place of the ashtray, and a machine-turned dash insert with Auto Meter gauges.
