Ford, Chevy & International Trucks - Readers' Trucks

By John Gilbert
1935 Ford Pickup Truck
Ford Powered Ford
We get the impression that Ray Church of Nampa, Idaho, is a staunch Ford fan. A 302ci Ford small-block V-8 powers his all-steel '35 Ford 1/2-ton. All of the donor parts came from a '77 Lincoln. Kevin McCann of Thousand Oaks, California, accomplished the shiny silver-blue paint job. You're a credit to the legions of Blue Oval hauler aficionados, Ray!

1951 Chevy 3100 Pickup Truck
Carl's '51 Chevy 3100
Carl Narehood of Karthaus, Pennsylvania, is the owner of a Torch Red, all-steel-body '51 Chevy 3100. Apart from 3-inch lowering blocks, the rear suspension was left stock. The pickup has a 350ci Chevy engine and a TH350 with a smooth-shifting Lokar floor shifter. Atop the ididit steering column, a Lecarra steering wheel is used to turn the Mustang II IFS. Carl replaced the original rear axle with a 2.73:1 Nova differential. After getting the interior trimmed in light and dark gray and equipping the Chevy with a HVAC system from Old Air Products, Carl hit the show circuit. To this day, he continues to drive and show his multiple-First place-winning Chevy 3100.

1966 Ford F100
All Except the Pinstripe
Albert Bank's '66 Ford F-100 used to be an Algonac, Michigan, auto parts store delivery truck. When he purchased it, the truck was pretty rough. After the installation of a .030-inch over 350ci Chevy engine, the truck was meant to be a daily driver. We're glad Albert decided to completely street truck the Ford. He replaced the stock front suspension with a '79 Trans Am IFS and installed a 10-bolt GM rearend, located by 33-inch ladder bars and a Panhard rod. The body received an equal amount of street rodding, with a '79 Prowler Purple, Viper Race Yellow, and Ford Performance Red-flames paint job. The Process Blue pinstripe is the only non-owner-added enhancement to the tricked-out truck. Albert's wife upholstered and embroidered the '97 F-150 seats before the frame-up restomod Ford was finally finished.

1939 International Pickup Truck
Tangy International
Tangelo Orange Pearl, a popular House of Kolors hue, now adorns the '39 International that Jack Mills of Evansille, Indiana, built. A donor Chevy S10 chassis, circa '86, complete with a 4.3L V-6, provides modern underpinnings and power for the vintage truck. Apart from '41 Chevy car headlights and '40 Ford truck rear fenders, the exterior is all International. The tasty Cornbinder rolls on Goodyear radials and 16-inch Cragar Star wheels.

1959 Ford F100
For Summer Drives
During the Greenfield, Indiana, summers, lucky custom vintage truck fans may see Gary Rogers piloting his turquoise '59 Ford F-100 Stepside. It has a stock chassis, a rebuilt 292ci Ford V-8, a 9-inch differential with a 3.00:1 final drive ratio, and rolls on American Racing Outlaw I wheels, shod with wide whitewall tires. Since Gary drives the delicious pickup daily in the summer, there's a good chance you'll see him-if you happen to be in Greenfield, Indiana.
