The black running boards are protected by what appears to be a pre-war vintage Ford logo-embossed step-plate.

The steering wheel and column are stock items in front of a stock dash. Under the dash is the original (water-operated) heater. A period-perfect mummy's skull hangs from the rearview mirror and a '50s-era steering-wheel knob adds to the vintage look.

When Ford Motor Company resumed production after WWII, the exterior styling of the '45 Ford was essentially the '42 Ford pickup carried over. Post-war demand for any pickup was exceptionally high. The 31-millionth Ford built was a '45 Ford 1/2-ton Model 83 pickup produced on May 3, 1945. The front and rear bumpers on Gary's '46 are stock items.

Russell's Upholstery in Bremerton, WA, stitched black Naugahyde in a vintage narrow tuck 'n' roll. Russell's also crafted a Naugahyde headliner that extends behind the rebuilt original bench seat back.

We spotted Gary cruising the Puyallup fairgrounds and were instantly entranced by the period-perfect paint and look of his '46 Ford pickup. It's pleasing to see these post-war trucks being preserved in such a manner.

The design of the '45-47 Ford grille has been dubbed "the waterfall grille." Interestingly, the sealed-beam headlights were mounted inboard on a stylish double-crowned fender. Note the restored fender welting on Gary's pickup.

Another popular item of the post-war period was the Lone Wolf plaque. Plenty of GIs were eager to do their thing without input or approval.

The original gauges have been restored and modified for the current 12-volt system (pun intended).

The rear taillights are reproduction '34 Ford units, with blue dots neatly mounted to the backside of the rear bumper.
