The California Hot Rod Reunion 20th Anniversary - Nostalgia On Nitro

The Cacklefest takes place Saturday night and is by far one of the highlights of the weekend for spectators as nearly seventy fire-breathing front-engine dragsters line up on the racetrack, producing an awe-inspiring array of sight and sound.

Some of the recreations are so spot-on, such as Don Garlits’ Swamp Rat III, that you’d swear it was the early ’60s.

For those fans of the ’67-72 Chevys, Mooneyes’ ramp truck is still in use today, hauling their Dragmaster chassis’d dragster to events just like it did back in the day.

Of course there were trucks for sale, like this ’47 Dodge for $9,500 or ’53 International for $12k. Both would make neat push trucks.

Like giant Hot Wheels toys, both Tom McEwen and Don Prudhomme’s Plymouth car haulers have been restored, along with their respective era floppers. Very cool!
