The weather didn't cooperate for their annual Xmas Party back in December, but as the saying goes: the show must go on! Although the winter event was a total rain out, Mooneyes hit a home run when July 18, 2010 rolled around and it was time to head out to Irwindale Speedway for the rescheduled Summer Show and Drag event.
When the gates opened at 9 a.m. thousands of spectators and hundreds of customs, hot rods, and race cars poured in to check out what the Moon crew had it store. The eighth-mile dragstrip got things going early with head-to-head action that continued on throughout the day, highlighted by a cacklefest at high noon. Entertainment was provided by Gamblers Mark, Hot Rod Trio, and the Dynotones throughout the afternoon followed by an art auction at 2 p.m., an awards presentation, and a pinup contest to close out the day.
Plans for this year find the date moved back to its original slot, the second Saturday in December, which makes it Dec. 11, 2010. But with the success of the summer show, who knows if the Mooneyes crew plan to make it a tradition or if it was just a one-time fling. Check out their website,

Terminal Velocity is the name of this jet-powered dragster and it had everyone within earshot, which is approximately 20 miles, turning to watch as it, almost literally, flies past the grandstands.

It's classic, it's slightly custom, and it's definitely a truck! But does a '70s Subaru qualify to grace the fine pages of this magazine? We thought it was at least worth a mention, even if just for a laugh.

And speaking of lesser makes, how about this '60 International Travelall?! Gotta dig those huge windows; perfect for a road trip through Yellowstone or some other exotic locale.
