Bakersfield March Meet - Bakersfield's Best
|
|
Mark Wilson drives this old-time... Mark Wilson drives this old-time '47 Dodge. The paint is a combination of drab-green and history. The motor is a six-cylinder with two Carter 2V carbs on an Edmunds manifold, and Fenton headers. Mark said the door felt and rubber is new, but the glass is original. Down by the finish line, we... Down by the finish line, we spotted this primered, chopped, and slammed '48-50 F-1. Owner Roy Keenan told us he bought the Ford from a descendant of Henry Ford. Roy redid the chrome and the interior, and bent a big old Coca-Cola sign and a few others for the bed floor. Back in the swap meet, Andy... Back in the swap meet, Andy Lessenden and BJ Johnston of Rumpedy Rods in Bakersfield, were trying to sell this low-mileage '57 Chevy with a 235. Wonder if they ever did. The thing that makes Floyd Hanson's '56 Ford F-100 and Dennis Kelso's '58 Chevy Apache so similar is the contrasting combination of weather-worn paint-faux or for real is your guess-with the fresh-looking chrome and rolling stock. The Ford rolls on painted steelies with caps and rings; the Chevy rolls on supersized Panthers. You can guess the reason why... You can guess the reason why CCT and everybody else was snapping photos of Jim Winton's '40 Ford from Springville, California. It's the eyeball-grabbing yellow paintjob, of course.
