2009 Kustom Kemps of America - The KKOA Leadsled Spectacular

One of the great things about... One of the great things about Salina is the legends are so accessible. Here you can see two young gals behind the wheel of their Chevy truck catching a word with George Barris and renowned customizer Bo Huff. Here's the Leadslinger himself,... Here's the Leadslinger himself, Bill Hines, and crew hard at work lowering the lid on a '46 Ford coupe. For those who have never seen what it takes to chop a top up close and personal, Salina is a once and a lifetime experience. We think we have a limbo winner... We think we have a limbo winner folks. Jared Duerksen's '82 F-100 is as slammed as Lindsey Lohan on Saturday night! You can barely even see those Cragar's tucked up in the wheelwells. Another old school survivor... Another old school survivor we spotted out at the show is this '48 Studebaker belonging to Dave, Chris, and Nick Paresa. There are more custom alterations lurking on this truck than Pamela Anderson has from head to toe. There may be a 327 Chevy Mouse... There may be a 327 Chevy Mouse motor nestled between the rails of Mick Franklin's Advance Design Chevy, but let's face it, there ain't nothing mouse-like about that motor. Here's a blast from the past,... Here's a blast from the past, a '46 Studebaker. Larry Hagen brought his chopped hauler slammed on Rally style wheels in from neighboring Missouri. If Miller High Life is the... If Miller High Life is the champagne of beers, then these next two trucks are the champagne of farm trucks. Justin Ronnebaum's '50 Chevy and Willie Pervin's '61 Ford Uni-cab are prime examples of how to cure you some Farm Truck Fever. The name card simply said... The name card simply said Reeve's, so that's what were gonna put. Anyways, we really liked Reeve's '52 International. The black suede with candy copper fenders, door jambs, and interior coupled with the lakes pipes and '59 Cadillac taillights makes for a bitchin' look. Another slick '55 F-100 we... Another slick '55 F-100 we spotted was Terry J. Van Houser's. The mullet of truckin'. Cadillac... The mullet of truckin'. Cadillac class up front mated with all 32 feet of bed-rockin' cargo space out back. Believe it or not, but there were two of these Caddy trucks in Salina. We're not 100 percent sure, but we're leaning towards the fact these were part of the fleet to come from legendary customizer Gene Winfield's shop. Dig this customized hauler.... Dig this customized hauler. Terry Conyer's '68 Chevy is as custom as custom gets. This '68 has received a heavy five-inch chop, a restyled tilt front end, all kinds of candy paint and mag wheels with knockoffs. After the show was over Saturday,... After the show was over Saturday, loads of attendees hopped in their ride and crossed the street to the host motel. Here's just a small taste of what the night held. By the way, did we mention Saturday night was a show within a show? It doesn't happen often, but... It doesn't happen often, but we can honestly say we're at a loss of words at this moment ... We all know the Blitz drip... We all know the Blitz drip pan, a little too well for some of us, but how many have you seen with massive amounts of pinstriping and louvers? Saturday also featured a pinstriper's auction with all kinds of cool stuff on hand. If this ain't livin' we don't know what is. A rolling party lounge, what else could you ask for?
