With half the fun of going to a cruise always being in the getting there, it's no wonder the Holley Somernites Power Cruise held last July 28 in Somerset, Kentucky- with hundreds of custom cars and trucks that left from four cities-was a real blast. Based out of Bowling Green, Kentucky, the folks at Holley Performance Products arranged for six meeting points in Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. By the middle of the weekend, 1,843 customized vehicles from 14 different states had rolled into the historic little town to enjoy a warm welcome from Somerset's residents. It's interesting to note that Jesse James' gang showed up one time in the 1800s to rob Somerset's bank, but were spooked by a bunch young fellows hanging out with shotguns in the town square and decided to rob Columbia's bank instead. Ironically, the young fellers with guns knew nothing about Jesse and his boys, they were just meeting up to go bird hunting.
We could go on about some of the festivities that were held during the Holley Somernites Power Cruise, but that would mean less room for pictures of trucks, and that would be a real shame. Visit www.somernitescruise.com for information about next year's event.
